Divemaster Internship 

Guinjata Dive Centre is a PADI five star instructor development centre. We offer a go pro phase which is our Divemaster Internship Program. This program is run over a 3 month period and is developed by PADI for scuba diving enthusiasts to go into the professional side of scuba diving and the adventurous lifestyle of dive professionals. The PADI Divemaster Program allows divers from entry level or higher to work toward becoming a PADI divemaster. 

The Divemaster Internship encourages candidates to learn much more than just the basics. You will gain experience in the dive Industry by learning to dive safely and conservatively and interacting with the guests in a professional manner. You will obtain the PADI Divemaster professional qualification during your 3 month internship. Divemasters and instructors work together as a team to provide safe, fun and effective dive training.


During the PADI Divemaster Internship you will learn about the role and characteristics of a PADI divemaster: supervising diving activities, assisting with student divers, dive safety and risk management, divemaster conducted programs, specialized skills and activities, the business of diving, as well as your career in diving, awareness of the dive environment and dive theory. You will learn to assist or rescue divers in distress, and to conduct open ocean tours for certified divers. There will be opportunity for you to gain experience in equipment repair, compressor operation, marketing and other aspects of daily dive centre operations.

Fiona Ayerst Underwater Photography Internship 

The month long program consists of a 20 dive photography package, a free-diving course, 1 cultural photography trip with a half day outing to the estuary near Barra, Inhambane. The course price includes 3 oceans safaris of which 2 are long-distance safaris aimed to get you the best chance of swimming with whale sharks and/or sharks and/or humpback whales depending on which month you join the program. 

We focus on becoming part of the marine world; using specialised breathing techniques and capitalising on the marine inhabitants natural curiosity. Fiona’s hand-picked and personally trained team will teach you how to capture the perfectly exposed and composed images and film. Creativity and new techniques are key. The team can also show you how to capture star trails; time-lapses and other interesting land based techniques, should you be interested. We mix in a little bit of info on how a young person entering this competitive but exciting field can make money out of uw photography.

The dive sites include some of the top rated dive reefs in the world such as Manta reefThe whale sharks in 

Mozambique are legendary. During the winter months the humpback whales are omnipresent as they come to breed in the bay. Included in the price is daily tuition and personal attention from Fiona Ayerst’s team. In other words you will live eat and breathe underwater photography for a full month. The price includes the use of professional underwater DSLR underwater photography kit,(with at least one and usually two strobes) and a month of food, accommodation and fun at Guinjata dive Centre near Inhambane in Mozambique.
